Installing Aftermarket Head Units

Written By admin On February 23th, 2010

Upgrading the sound system is usually one of the first modifications attempted when we talk about car customization. The best place to start is a good head unit. If you plan to install by yourself, you can read about some technical advice from our experienced editors.

You'll get some tools to do the job right, so start collecting some screwdrivers (flat head and Phillips head), a socket set, wire cutters, metal pads, butt connectors or recession MOUE heat, electricaltape, zip ties, welding and a soldering iron and patience.

The first thing I do before installing I suggest buying the stereo system for the application of the vehicle. This makes installation easier for you if you are a beginner, and it may be easier to replace the stock radio (if you choose to sell the vehicle in the future) and the exchange or upgrade to a new head unit post sale.

Begin to break the negative battery cable frombattery. This will ensure that you do not accidentally cross any wires and burn a new piece of material. Next, remove the old unit head. If you need to see what happens on your specific vehicle, you can watch your application to vehicles installdr.com. This is a great resource for pictures because of how the removal of the main unit. When it is solved, disconnect the wires and the antenna from the main unit and remove everything.

There are two types of wire, youcan get. There is a universal cable that connects to your vehicles existing wiring, the transmitter and wire that connects the unfinished color-coded wires from the new boss. There's also a wiring harness that had a belt on both sides, and only the pressure on both sides. This is the easiest to install, but can be difficult ot find your car to match the main unit. Most electrical wiring is the universal type, so we'll concentrate on them. If you have beenthe cycle, you will see the color-coded wires on the back of the head. The threads of the main unit and wiring per game. The main unit of wires and cables, wires will be partially out for easy installation. There are several good ways to connect the cables. One way is to butt joints, cables inside a crimped connector. It can be downloaded to almost any place that sells / installs head unit, or Walmart, etc. My favorite way requires awelder and reduces the heat is moue. Twist the wires together tightly. Apply just enough solder to weld the two wires together. Now bend over parallel to one of the wires. Slide the sleeve over the connection and heat with a heat gun or hair dryer well. Do I ReWire or systems where end connectors used are restored, but it can be setup error, not a problem with the connectors themselves. I've never welded a link failure.

When allconnections are made, and the sleeve and the heat reduced to place, I'd like to have a zip tie and tie them all together. Then the lightning excess for a clean finished appearance. Connect the wires from the main wiring connected to the vehicle. Connect the antenna (you can find an adapter for the antenna in some applications). Now move the main unit is in place, but not attack it. Connect the negative battery cable and turn on the main unit (make sure the key is turnedACC position). It must function properly at this point. If you plan to add an amplifier, or have bought one of these settings, turn off and connect the RCA cables. Doing Strip on the strip and the amplifier (for more information on how to do this successfully in future articles).
